Square of Four Digit Number More Than The Base Using Yavadunam Method

Square Of Four Digit Number More Than The Base Using Yavadunam Method:  This method is used to find  square of a four digit number which is more than the base. This thechnique can be very helpful in saving the time in the various competitive exams where each second counts.

Find the square 1015.

Step 1 : Find the surplus in the number as compared to the base. For 1015 the nearest base is 1000 so the surplus will be 15

Add the surplus to the number

Result 1 = 1015+ 15 = 1030

Step 2: Now find the square of the surplus that is 15. Square of 15 is 225

Result 2 = 225

As the base has three zeros, we will take three digits at a time

Step 3: The rightmost three digits of the Result 2 are the rightmost three digits of the answer and the remaining are the carry.

Answer:  225

Carry is 0

Step 4: The Carry is added to Result 1.  The Resultant Number is Leftmost Block of the Answer

Resultant Number = 1030 + 0 = 1030

Answer : 1030225
